It was great seeing this again after all these years.
If my memory isn't faulty from the last time I watched this movie many years ago, I would say the quality of the image was slightly better than the VCR tape I still have in a closet somewhere (I have no VCR, which is why I bought this version). This movie was 838x480, and a bit grainy with some color bleed. The aspect ratio also seemed to be slightly off. Everything looked a bit wider and shorter than it should have been. I waited for a good side view of a car's wheel rims to be sure. They were ovals. The sound level was also a bit on the low side. I really had to crank the volume on my computer. BUT! All that said, until they find it in their hearts to provide those of us in the US with a remastered version of this film (fingers crossed while looking at you Criterion), this is well worth the price I paid. If it ever is released through official channels, I won't hesitate to buy it again. It's a really fun film. In the meantime, thank you Vintage Shack for making this available.
